Hybrid CCTV System
System with both new IP based cameras and integration of existing analogue units.
Monitor Systems have recently delivered a new Hybrid CCTV System to a longstanding client for their semi-submersible vessel currently operating in the North Sea.
Design
After an initial proposal, a Monitor Systems' Engineer attended the vessel to survey the existing system and assess upgrade requirements.
With the client already operating an extensive analogue CCTV system, it was possible to integrate some existing analogue cameras, cables, and ancillaries that were still serviceable. This approach presented substantial savings for the client and will allow them to implement a staged upgrade to a full IP system at a later date without requiring further modifications to the system.
Supply
As part of the system upgrade Monitor Systems supplied the following:
- New 19" CCTV Rack Fitted with:
- SFP Industrial Rack Mount switches
- CCTV Servers - Raid 5
- Analogue Camera Fibre Receiver Rack
- Fibre Termination Bulkheads
- VGA Console
- Video Encoders
- Video Decoders
- CCTV Client Stations
- Custom configured joystick user controls
- Driller's client stations
- Hazardous Area & Safe Area PTZ & Fixed CCTV Cameras
- Fibre Junction Boxes & ancillary items
- Hybrid Cable
System Description
This system upgrade allows a significant expansion to the rig's existing CCTV setup. With multiple additional cameras, and new client stations for both office environments and for the driller's cabin.
The system features encoders to connect the rig's existing analogue cameras while retaining full PTZ functionality. These are seamlessly integrated into the new customised user interface, which includes camera layout configurations tailored to operational requirements and on-screen buttons for wash and wiper operations where necessary.
Darren Milne, Commercial Manager, added, "This system presents a solution that has been truly customised to meet the end users requirements, allowing a significant upgrade in functionality and operation which builds upon the original system's core functionality. Meaning a user-friendly experience for the existing operators with a minimal learning curve on the new hardware."
Installation & Commissioning
Monitor Systems’ in-house technicians and engineers shall undertake installation & commissioning of the new CCTV system on-site offshore, making sure that everything is operational and fully function tested as well as refining camera presets and operation shortcuts.
Conclusion
This project showcases Monitor Systems’ ability to meet client specifications to high standards and provide customised CCTV solutions.
